Viva Las Vegas!

So this past weekend we spontaneously decided to go to Vegas. Jord's family was going for the Utah game, and we up and decided Friday morning to leave....that same day! So in about 2 hours we decided, booked our room, packed up and drove out. I was so worried about how Tate would do on the 6 hour drive, but he did amazing. Lots of movies on the dvd player and lots of chocolate...those kept him occupied!
On Saturday we walked the strip and it was so hot! It was nice having 90 degree weather again. We saw the Bellagio fountains, Coke and M & M Factories, and the Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay. It doesn't sound like much but walking to all of them took all day--we were exhausted! I was so proud of Tate too, he didn't nap the whole weekend and acted so good, I couldn't believe it. He loved all the people, lights, and chaos of it all. Maybe I should be worried that my son already loves Vegas??This was the best family picture we got...whateverThat's right....we stood on a corner right next to K-Fed and he is getting pretty fat. Jord thought I should go ask for a picture with him but I think he's a dirt bag so I didn't really want to. The distant shot was good enough.Drinking the best Coke slushees EVER at the Coke Factory. I got about 3 sips and Tate chugged the rest, he wouldn't let it go. I have no idea why he was hyper the rest of the day. (Can you tell we are a Utes family??:)Grandma Kathy let the boys all pick out one thing at the M & M Factory to buy...this is what Tate chose. A big dorky car with the M & M guys in it, super.

Since the Utah game was pretty late that night and I wasn't going to take Tate to it, Jord stayed with us so we weren't alone. We went swimming and just relaxed at the hotel. Then Sunday the boys just swam and we left that afternoon for home. I'm so glad we ended up going even just for a few days, it was so much fun, we had a great time!

I love fall....

Fall has become my new favorite time of year....it's not so hot, kids are back in school so places aren't as busy, and there's fun holidays to look forward to! So to start out the season we went to an awesome pumpkin patch that also had a fun little corn maze for kids. Tate loved it, he kept making us go back in the "tunnel" he called it. Then we got wheelbarrows and walked around picking our pumpkins! It was a great little family night. And last week during conference we decided to drive up Big Cottonwood canyon to see the leaves change. It was really pretty, but the highlight for Tate was throwing rocks in the river. We found a great spot to stop and he literally sat for an hour straight just finding rocks to throw in...the things that entertain a 2 year old.BUT, the best part of fall is this:
that's right, I have a Snuggie. I'm one of those people you see on the commercial. And I cannot lie, I love this thing. I'm always freezing and wrapped in a blanket, so Jord saw this at Costco and bought it for me. Now I can be wrapped up like a Jedi Knight but still have my hands free to flip through the channels, it's amazing.

Crazy Tate

Tate is apparently just as wild sleeping as he is awake during the day. He hasn't been sleeping as great lately-he rolls all over the place and he kept getting stuck against the wall, and he's just been getting really cramped in his toddler bed. So we decided to try my old bed that's been sitting in our garage to see if it helped. It's been awesome! He sleeps better and loves being able to sprawl out, and he sleeps in later too. I don't even care that it takes up the entire room!

Taking apart his old bed. And this picture kind of shows my 4 month baby bump....I'm in that stage where you just look like your getting chubby, not really pregnant. His new Cars bed! He just likes that it's even more space to jump on now
Then the other morning I was trying to hurry and get ready for an appointment so I left Tate downstairs unsupervised....never a good idea. In a matter of like 10 minutes he had gotten up on the counter and dumped Jordan's protein drinks everywhere. Of course I had to take a picture first before cleaning up the disaster that was all over the kitchen...and he was happy as could be.
Then that same day me and Jord were out working in the yard and Tate was running in and out of the garage with his toys. We weren't really paying attention until he came out throwing all this blue stuff around. So I went over and it was a bunch of D-Con rat poison, and he was spitting something out of his mouth too. Aaagghh! So we took him in and called poison control and they actually weren't too worried. I guess he would have to have eaten the entire box to really hurt him. So note to self, if your child eats a little D-Con it's ok apparently...

Our Anniversary

We celebrated our 6th anniversary on the 19th....it was very low key this year but still really fun. My mom watched Tate for the day and we went and did some random things that we've never done before. We walked around the big Farmers Market at Pioneer Park--sounds weird but it is actually really cool, I want to go again! Then we drove up the canyon for a while, went to the Hill Airforce Base museum which is also really neat, and then ate at the Maddox in Brigham City. It was so nice to spend a whole day with just me and Jord and do whatever we felt like...
Jord really liked all the old fighter war planes they had
that was the biggest plane I have ever seen...I could have fit my entire house inside it
Those were the only pictures we got, we didn't even get one of us together! But it was really fun to reminisce about the past 6 years and everything we've gone through--some things we anticipated, other things we didn't! But through all the ups and downs I wouldn't change a thing and I'm so glad to be married to my best friend.

It's a....GIRL!!

And here's her first picture! I am now a little over 15 weeks, and way too impatient to wait for the normal 20 week ultrasound, so we decided to go find out and it's definitely a girl! Everything looked really good and she was quite the mover and kicker...I don't know if that's good or bad:) but we are super excited...
A few details about this pregnancy...I am due March 3, 2010. I've felt pretty crappy this time, about the same as with Tate. But a bag of jolly ranchers, 2 whole boxes of saltines, a 24 pack of sprite, and a bottle of zofran later, I think it's starting to get a little bit better. Just the thought of having to eat more saltines makes me want to vomit. But regardless of being sick, I'm just happy that we're going to have another girl in the house!

So long old friend....

So I almost never post on this thing. In fact, I can't remember the last time I did. That being said, I wanted to do a blog to an old buddy of mine that is no longer with us. So this is for you old pal.

We've been through some good times and the bad. I remember when you first came around, I wasn't sure what to think of you. I didn't understand your style, your way of life. But as we spent more and more time together I began to understand who you were and what you stood for. I remember the first Utah football game we went to together. It was cold and you tried to keep me warm. You were there for me when I was growing my beard, some people made fun of me but not you. You traveled with me to new orleans, who can forget our time down on Bourbon Street? At disneyland you went on every single ride with me. I knew sometimes you were a little scared and worried the rides could mess things up, but you did it anyway. I'll never forget our time in hawaii. Our snorkling expeditions, riding the waves together, or just hanging around in our hotel room. No matter what you always had my back, and I thank you for that. I know you are gone, but we will always have those times and no one can take them away from us. So here's to you my friend, my companion, MY SHAG! Gone but certainly not forgotten!!
