Mi familia

So I'm a little slow on posting, it's been a crazy week. But I have to say I love the tradition my family and I have. Once a month the husbands stay home with the kids, and us girls go out to dinner and a movie--or whatever else we want for the night. Oh, my dad comes too, but he's basically one of the girls (and he loves it!)

So this past Saturday we went and saw 27 Dresses....it was so good! I laughed my head off, it was so freakin funny. But more than anything, I love being able to go out and have a good time with my sisters. We talk to each other almost every day, and see each other about as much. We fought like crazy growing up, but now we are all very close. They are my best friends and I can't imagine living away from them.

The Dreaded Shots

battle wounds

So Tate had his 6 month dr. appointment on Tuesday....I hate those days. It's not just the fact that they get so many shots, it's how the rest of the day is horrible. He was cranky, fussy, feverish-I don't blame him. I'd be pissed too if I had 5 shots at once. But he was also old enough to have the flu shot (well, the first half of it); and I don't know if I'm going back to get the other one next month. All Tuesday and Wednesday he had a 102 fever and screamed for hours, he wouldn't sleep, wouldn't eat....it was awful. Has anyone else had this happen when their kids got the flu shot? Am I a bad mother for not wanting to go back for the other one?

The one good thing that came out of that appointment was Tate peed all over the doctor. :)

The Great Mouse Hunt

Being a city girl my whole life, small things scare me-bugs, spiders, snakes........mice. My parents both grew up on farms and therefore consider those things a part of life. So when this

showed up in my living room Sunday night, I freaked out. I called my dad sobbing (at around 1 a.m. mind you) frantic with how to take care of this disgusting creature. You know what he said? "Well, just go to bed and take care of it in the morning." Are you serious?! Leave it to have free reign of my house in the middle of the night? I DON'T THINK SO. So Jordan and I spent the next 3 hours chasing it around that room and out from under the couch, bookshelf and entertainment center 500 times. Needless to say, we finally chased it out to the garage using a bait of cheese. (I know, it really worked...Tom and Jerry are right)
The next day Jordan spent hours putting out numerous mouse traps and poisons all over the garage and santizing the crap out of our family room (I went to my sisters' house, I was not about to be around for any of it). In the end, the mouse found himself smashed dead in a trap. Let that be a lesson to any of his little friends considering my house as a refuge.

New Years Resolutions.....

Now that we have entered the two thousand and eighth year of our lord, everyone (minus my wife Ashley) has new years resolutions. So I wanted to put down some of mine, I figure by putting them down on this blog I can be held accountable for following through with them. That being said, I give you Jordan's Resolutions 2008 in no particular order. ( Just a personal note:
I hate writing 08 on papers, 07 was so much easier anyways, I digress.)

Resolutions:

1. To read a book once a month. Even if its those dang Harry Potter's everyones talking about.

2. To drop lbs. and get into shape. I know its the cliche resolution but I don't like running up a flight of stairs and being out of breath for 5 min afterwards.

3. To brush my teeth for a little over the recommended 2 min that dentist's tell you to brush.

4. To take 5 minutes out of my day to realize how blessed I really am.

5. To not eat fast food almost every day. (refer to resolution #2.)

6. To kiss my baby boy's forehead everyday.

7. To beat "Guitar Hero III" on hard. Man that game is addicting.

8. To take my lovely wife out for a "nice" dinner once a month.

9. To take a bubble bath at least once a week. Your not a true Love unless you love to take baths.

10. To try and park our car straight into the garage. This one's for you Ash.

11. To try and floss my teeth more often. Instead of only doing it the week before my dentist appointment.

12. To go camping at least one time during the summer.

13. To not wipe my hands on the hand towel after putting gel in my hair. Again Ash this one's for you.

14. To not worry so much about Tate getting sick.

15. To tell Ashley that I love her each day.

16. To live life to the fullest each day.

17. To run at least a mile and half 3 times a week. Again refer to Resolution #2.

18. To not drink Ashley's bottled water and leave one sip left.

19. To try and read the B of M this year. I had to put one church res in here.

20.To always recognize that I have the best friends and family in the world.

Resolutions?

Jordan wanted me to give him my new year's resolutions so he could post them with his, and I've given it great thought (ok not really), and here's what I've got--I don't do them. Who honestly keeps a resolution longer than say, January 31st? So I'll just save myself that guilt and not worry about it. Hmmm, I feel better already.
