The stats.

so Tater (poor kid, he'll grow up thinking his real name is Tater since we ALWAYS call him that) had his 1 year appointment last week and he's 19 lbs 10 oz (10%) and 30 in. (50%)...he's getting tall and skinny! He really isn't my baby anymore, he's lost that baby face look and he's not the chunker he used to be. He's a little boy! And he acts like a little boy too-that's not so fun. He's into throwing major tantrums over everything. As in melts to the floor screaming, bangs his head, and flails around like a dying fish. I can at least walk away from him when it's at home, it's the aisles of Walmart that it's a tad more embarrassing. Any advice? I asked the doctor and all he does is laugh and say "I wish I could tell you it gets better, but it doesn't." Thank you.

The good news is he's close to walking. This video is a month old so he's really wobbly, and it's funny because he gets pissed that he can't turn around....hence the small tantrum at the end. But I love it, he can now fly around the room with that elmo mower, and he's starting to stand all by himself. Soon...

The Ranch and Tate's Birthday!

Last week all of my family went up to Jordan's parents cabin (did that make sense?). We try to go at least once a year, but since Tate was born we haven't gone at all. I always forget how amazing it is up there! It's so secluded in the mountains and there's so much to do--swim, go hot tubbing, four-wheeling, hike, eat and just relax. Here's some highlights... Hailey, Alexa, Tate and Meg swinging away.
There are all sorts of mounted animals up there, which would probably scare the normal 1 year old, but he was so fascinated-he wanted to touch them all.
Not the best picture, but it's the only one I got of all us girls

And then while we were there--my baby turned one!! It really feels like just yesterday I was sitting in the hospital freaked out not knowing how to change a boys diaper (amongst many other terrifying things). We did a little family party and stripped Tate down to mutilate his own cake--which he did a very good job at. The only downside was he started getting sick on his birthday with some sort of cold and fever, so he was a bit cranky.

This pretty much sums up his excitement for all the cool presents everyone gave him--he was more interested in the balloons.

Then when we got home from the ranch, we did a little party with Jord's family:

this is what Tate got from mom and dad--and he can't get enough of it! We go round and round our circle.... Tate with his cousins Kaige and Max

Last week was so much fun at the cabin and celebrating Taters birthday with both families...thanks for all his presents!

Newport Beach!

We just got back from a fabulous trip to Newport with Jord's family. It was 8 days of lounging, the beach, Disneyland and eating! I was so nervous and worried about how Tate would do that I think I developed an ulcer. But he ended up doing amazing! He actually acted and even slept better than he does at home--go figure. So for that, I was grateful. He loved all the rides at Disneyland, and wasn't scared at all of the fireworks--he kept "ooohing" and "aaaahing" the whole time.

The "Buzz Lightyear" ride was the best, you got to shoot guns at these targets & as you can tell, we were pretty into it.

Tate wasn't so sure what to think of the beach-the water was really cold so he wasn't about to get in. He basically sat on the sand and ate the whole time....whatever floats your boat I guess.

For the 4th of July, we went down to Laguna Beach and watched fireworks. It was amazing to sit right on the sand with the waves coming up and the fireworks right above our heads--I'm sorry, but Sugarhouse has nothing on that!

We had such a great time playing and relaxing, it was hard to come home. I though sharing a condo with 11 other people would be a nightmare, but it was so fun! I can't wait until next May when we go again with them all to Hawaii!!
